Let Us Find the Best Padel Grip for You

Not sure which grip to choose? Then you've come to the right place. At Padellife, we're padel specialists - and we love digging into the small things that can make a big difference. Choosing the right padel grip falls into this category. It's a thing that can easily be underestimated, because a padel grip doesn't cost that much money, and then changing grips can be a bit of a hassle if you haven't tried it before. However, we can guarantee that both your time and money are well spent if you choose a good padel grip - and replace it regularly, as over time it loses its ability to absorb sweat.

Choose Your Grip from the Best Brands

No matter what kind of grip you prefer to hold onto your padel tennis racket in the best possible way, we always have solid quantities in stock. At Padellife we understand the importance of a good grip, so we always have a wide selection of grips to match every occasion, whether you're looking for the type of padel grip, the colour, the surface or something else entirely. Some of the most popular brands when shopping for padel grips are HeadWilson and Bullpadel. If you have a favourite brand yourself, you can sort our grips based on your preferred brand on this page.

Types of Padel Grips

Padel grips come in many different types and with different surfaces. In general, you should go for a grip that gives you good contact with the racket so it doesn't slip in your hand. That's why padel grips also have sweat absorbing properties, so the moisture in your hand affects your contact with the racket as little as possible. Below we briefly review the most commonly used types of grips for the sport of padel.

Overgrips

An overgrip is designed to be applied on top of an existing grip. By far the most common solution in padel is to put an overgrip on top of the existing base grip when you have bought a new racket. Once the overgrip is worn out, you remove it, but leave the original base grip in place. Then you simply apply a new overgrip and your racket is ready to go again.

Undergrips

An undergrip can both look like a standard grip, but can also come as a 'sleeve' that you pull onto the racket shaft. Undergrips come in different hardnesses, the purpose of which is to provide comfort and vibration dampening. As the name suggests, you apply the undergrip to the inside of the racket's shaft. Once this is done, you add an overgrip on top.

Replacement Grips

A replacement grip is made so that you first remove the current grip on your padel racket and then replace it with the replacement grip. Note that a replacement grip is thicker than an overgrip. While a replacement grip is often the only grip used in squash, for example, some padel players use a replacement grip on the inside and then apply an overgrip on top of that to get a thicker grip to hold onto.

Ergonomic Grips

One of the most popular ergonomic grips is the Bullpadel Hesacore. It's an ergonomic undergrip in the form of a patterned rubber sleeve that you pull up onto the racket's shaft. The pattern gives you some contours to hold onto and the material gives you a shock absorbing effect. Always remember to add an overgrip on top.

Sprays, Gels and 'Towels' for Your Grip

Even if you've found the perfect grip, some padel players still experience problems getting an optimal contact with the racket. Grip gels, grip sprays or 'grip towels' can be the solution. These products are designed to be applied to either the grip or your hand to improve contact with the racket. You can find our range of sprays, gels and towels for your padel grip in the Accessories section.

The Surface of Your Padel Grip

In addition to the different categories of padel grips, you can also choose from different types of surfaces. The surface of the grip is what your hand is in direct contact with, so you need to choose the surface that best suits your palm when you're sweating on the padel court. Here you can choose between a tacky, sticky surface, a dry surface and a 'wet feel'. In addition, you can also choose between grips with or without pattern, contours or small air holes for increased ventilation in the surface.

Offers and Discounts on Padel Grips

If you play padel several times a week and therefore have a certain consumption of grips, it may be a good idea to buy several grips at a time to save money. Or you and your padel buddies can join forces and buy many grips at a time and get volume discounts. At Padellife, we offer grips in various packages including 1-packs, 3-packs and all the way up to the large 30- or 50-packs that we regularly get in stock. In other words, you can shop grips for every want and need.

How Often Should I Change my Padel Grips?

Depending on how often you play, you should change the grip on your padel racket about once a month. It gradually absorbs sweat less well, making it harder for you to get a proper grip of the racket. Many experienced players change to a new overgrip before every match, and you'll even see professional players changing grips several times during a match if it's played in very hot conditions.

Which Grip Is Best for Padel?

It is a very individual preference which grip is the best for your padel racket. The most commonly used option is an overgrip on top of the racket's base grip. The overgrip can be chosen according to the surface that suits you best, such as a 'tacky' or 'dry' feel. Read our ultimate guide to padel grips where we go through the different types like overgrips, undergrips, replacement grips and ergonomic grips like Hesacore.

Can You Change Overgrip Yourself?

You can easily change the grip of your padel racket yourself. When you put on a new overgrip, start at the bottom of the racket shaft. Make an overlap of about a third to get the optimal thickness for an average hand size. A good tip is to pull a little bit in the grip when you put it on for the best result.
