Pickleball is a fast-growing racket sport in the USA and Canada, and more and more people have discovered the sport. In pickleball, balls and paddles are some of the most essential equipment to get started. Find your new pickleball equipment here, or read more about the different types of balls and paddles below.
Pickleball paddles are made from materials such as fibreglass, carbon, wood or hybrid models that are a combination of these. If you want a pickleball paddle with control and feel, carbon fibre paddles are ideal for you. On the other hand, if you want more power in your game, you might want to look for a fibreglass pickleball paddle, as these are less stiff and therefore more flexible.
Pickleball balls are made of plastic and are hollow with holes in them. They often come in bright colours to make them easy to spot during the fast-paced rallies. In simple terms, there are two types of pickleballs: one ball for indoor courts and another ball for outdoor courts.
An indoor pickleball ball is characterised by having fewer holes and a larger diameter than an outdoor pickleball. The indoor ball is also slightly lighter and softer. This construction allows for better performance on indoor pickleball courts where there is no wind.
An outdoor pickleball ball has more and smaller holes than an indoor ball. At the same time, the outdoor ball weighs a bit more and is harder. This construction enables it to withstand wind and its durability on the rough outdoor courts is better.
Pickleball is a racket sport that started in the United States in 1965. The game provides plenty of exercise and is easy to get started. Pickleball can be played on both outdoor and indoor courts, where you can play singles (2 people) or doubles (4 people). As in many racket sports, the players are separated by a net in the centre of the court and the game starts with a serve.
